7/22/13 Annual County Fair Parade Tonight




TODAY MARKS THE HALFWAY POINT OF THE 2013 JASPER COUNTY FAIR. THE

FAIR BEGAN LATE FRIDAY, AND WRAPS UP THURSDAY NIGHT. TODAY IS

CHILDREN’S DAY. FAIR BOARD MEMBER DANETTE PEASE SAYS THE ANNUAL

FAIR PARADE THROUGH DOWNTOWN COLFAX BEGINS AT 7 TONIGHT. KAREN

AND WAYNE SCHLOSSER OF COLFAX ARE THIS YEAR’S PARADE MARSHALS.

THEY ARE BEING HONORED FOR THEIR LIFE LONG PARTICIPATION AND

COMMITMENT TO THE FAIR AND IT’S YOUTH. THE FAIR BOARD SAYS KAREN

SERVED AS A 4-H LEADER FOR THE COLFAX CLOVERETTES FOR OVER 20

YEARS AND ALSO JUDGED ACHIEVEMENT SHOWS AND DEMONSTRATION DAYS

ALL AROUND THE COUNTY AND CENTRAL IOWA. SHE’S ALSO BEEN THE

SUPERINTENDENT OF THE JASPER COUNTY FAIR. OVER THE YEARS…HER

HUSBAND WAYNE HAS DONE THINGS AROUND THE FAIRGROUNDS WITHOUT

BEING ASKED OR EXPECTING ANYTHING IN RETURN. FOLLOWING THE

PARADE, THERE’S A PERFORMANCE BY THE BRAD MORGAN BAND.

 

THE WOODCARVERS SCULPTURE AUCTION IS ALSO TONIGHT AT 9 IN THE
 
PAVILION.
