A NEWTON MAN ACCUSED OF DRIVING DRUNK WITH SEVERAL GRAMS OF MARIJUANA

IN HIS VEHICLE, HAS BONDED OUT OF THE JASPER COUNTY JAIL. 27 YEAR OLD

JOSHUA DAVID EILANDER WAS ARRESTED AROUND 11:30 SATURDAY NIGHT, AFTER

NEWTON POLICE WERE ALERTED TO A SPEEDING VEHICLE HEADED INTO TOWN ON

HIGHWAY 6. A NEWTON OFFICER INITIATED A TRAFFIC STOP AFTER THE SUSPECT

VEHICLE ALLEGEDLY DROVE OVER THE CURB AT 1ST AVENUE WEST AND WEST 8TH
 
STREET NORTH. THE VEHICLE STOPPED AT WEST END SINCLAIR, AND THE DRIVER

JUMPED OUT AND RAN. A SHORT TIME LATER, THE POLICE SAY EILANDER WAS FOUND

HIDING IN BRUSH. A BREATHALYZER TEST PUT HIS BLOOD ALCOHOL LEVEL AT POINT

1-4-1. IN THE VEHICLE…OFFICERS SEIZED A METAL GRINDER, A JAR, AND A BAGGIE.

THE ARREST REPORT SAYS 8.1 GRAMS OF MARIJUANA WAS IN THE JAR, WHILE THE

BAGGIE HAD ANOTHER 9.6 GRAMS. EILANDER IS FREE ON A 6-THOUSAND 600-DOLLAR
 
BOND. HE’S FACING O-W-I…INTERFERENCE…DRUG PARAPHERNALIA POSSESSION…

AND
POSSESSION OF MARIJUANA WITH INTENT TO DELIVER CHARGES.
