08/18/14 90-Day Jail Term Given In Newton "Hammer" Attack



A 36 YEAR OLD NEWTON MAN ARRSTED FOR BREAKING INTO HIS EX-GIRLFRIEND’S HOME WITH A HAMMER AND CHASING HER, HAS BEEN GIVEN A 3-MONTH JAIL SENTENCE. JOSEPH KENDRICK REUSSWIGG PLED GUILTY TO ASSAULT CAUSING INJURY AND TRESPASS. HE’S TO BEGIN SERVING HIS 90-DAY JAIL TERM SEPTEMBER 12TH. HE ALSO HAS TO PAY 380-DOLLARS IN FINES, PLUS A 125-DOLLAR SURCHARGE. THE AFTERNOON OF FEBRUARY 5TH…THE NEWTON POLICE SAY REUSSWIGG USED A HAMMER TO BREAK OUT THE PATIO DOOR WINDOW AT HIS EX-GIRLFRIEND’S. HE THEN CHASED THE 35 YEAR OLD THROUGH HER HOUSE WITH THE HAMMER, EVENTUALLY GRABBING HER BY THE HAIR AND THROWING HER TO THE GROUND. THE WOMAN WAS ABLE TO ESCAPE AND CALL POLICE. AFTER SHE GOT AWAY…REUSSWIGG ALLEGEDLY DESTROYED ITEMS IN THE HOUSE WITH THE HAMMER, INCLUDING A 55-INCH FLAT SCREEN TV. OFFICERS SAID HIS EX-GIRLFRIEND HAD VISIBLE INJURIES TO HER ARMS AND LEGS.
